More about us

Established in 2018 in Kinshasa of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Société des Produits Agricoles du Congo (SOPAGRI S.A.R.L.) is a women-owned and managed company, commercializing quality agricultural products in the DRC.

Our business model is centered around empowering Congolese women through agricultural value chains. We promote women's initiatives in the sector and offer tailored training opportunities to the women we work with.

SOPAGRI works in partnership with the Congolese women in coffee and cocoa initiative ( IFCCA). IFCCA is a network of women-led cooperatives and boasts over 15,000 women farmer members, primarily in Eastern DRC. SOPAGRI purchases commercializes, exports, trains and invests in IFCCA member cooperatives, in order to help develop opportunities for women and girls along the value chain.

In partnership with Café Africa DRC, SOPAGRI provides technical support and training to over 2500 coffee farmers in the DRC Sud Ubangi region. These training have helped increase the quality of our farmers’ coffee beans that were rated in the U.S. as “specialty coffee,” a higher ranking than what is required for export.

Why Sopagri Congo

SOPAGRI is the only women-owned and managed export company in the DRC. Agriculture value chains in the DRC are mostly broken, especially those in the coffee sector. The farmers’ primary connection to markets is through few foreign traders who buy a limited amount of agriculture products. Without reliable buyers, increased production means both increased waste and a lower commercial value of the harvest. Accordingly, a connection to markets is fundamental.
SOPAGRI provides that market connection. In addition to maintaining strong linkages with trained coffee farmers across the DRC, SOPAGRI and its founders have the necessary linkages to sell coffee to international and local markets.

Our Values

Leadership

We believe in leading by example: SOPAGRI is a women owned and led company. We demonstrate and promote female leadership in our working teams and in our community. We work hard to encourage our farmers and supply chain partners to be active leaders in their communities. We believe in the game-changing role Congolese women can play to foster the agricultural sector of their country.

Quality

At SOPAGRI, we are committed to go the extra mile to offer the best to our clients. To ensure the ultimate quality of our products, we train and work with the hardworking and talented farmers that are part of our networks to produce the highest quality produce.

Passion

We are very passionate about the potential our work can have on the overall agricultural sector in the DRC. As we grow as a company, we believe our work will help improve the lives of millions of Congolese women and lift them out of poverty through the development of sustainable agriculture value chains.

Trustworthiness

We value the mutual trust we have fostered with our working teams and supply chain partners to produce and sell the highest quality products.

Integrity

Our teams are made up of women and men who guarantee that we are always in compliance with rules and regulations of the industry. SOPAGRI would like to continue to showcase that ethical business practices are good for business, even when operating in difficult business environments.
